Are You Happy With Your Kitchen Gadgets?

Buying things online is a double-edged sword. One great thing about things over the internet is that without even leaving the house you can see all the different products in a range and you usually get the best price too. That is all good, but one major negative you have to contend with is that you don’t actually get to see the product in real life before you buy it, you are basing your decision off some text and a small picture, so it might be quite different to what you expect when you get it. If it is a ornament or something that you are ordering then that isn’t really an issue, but for something in your kitchen that you have to use all the time then it can cause problems.

One of the only ways to get around that problem is to look for reviews online. A good site will have possibly hundreds of reviews on all the different equipment you could want for your kitchen, from skillets to spatulas, and have advice on choosing the best rice cooker or how to find knives that stay sharp for longer and so much more. You can find sites where normal people like me and you can leave our own reviews for an item, the advantage of that is you have the viewpoint of a few different people, the disadvantage though is that they are plagued with fake reviews and feedback from people who have never used let alone owned the item before.

On the other side of the spectrum you have sites like FriendlyCookware.com which don’t allow any reviews from normal people and instead just have a review by a member of staff about which items they like and what they think of them. This can work well as often you are going to get a much more professional and detailed review than you would from the short comments people leave when they give ratings, and if you find a site which gives good recommendations then you can keep going back when you need something else and you know you can trust what they recommend.

When you are searching then don’t discount Amazon.com as a good source of reviews. I know most people go to Amazon when they are ready to buy, but actually they have hundreds of reviews from customers on some products and they can be very helpful. If you want to dig a little deeper then within a few clicks you can actually find out exactly how well any item on Amazon is selling. Just browse through the description until you get to the sales figure and it will tell you how well it is selling, and if you click the category it is in then it will tell you what the bestselling products are in that category. That gives you some extra data to work with, now you know what the customers think of an item and how well it is selling compared to similar items from other companies, and if an item is a best seller and has great feedback then it must be doing something right.

Or you could just nip down to your local store if this sounds like too much effort and buy something from them! However while it can be a pain sometimes then I have found it really helps me to make the right choice when I spend just 10 or 20 minutes researching my options online and seeing what is selling well and what is getting the best feedback.
