The internet has just exploded in size over the past few years and now there are so many websites to choose from it is hard to know where to go when you need to buy something. Often what people will do is go into Google and type in what they need, then they will be given the sites that Google thinks are the most relevant and you can go through and find the site with the best price from them, but you need to take more than just price into account.
Internet security is a big problem now, how can you be sue that website you are about to give your most important details to including all your payment information, is going to treat your details with care and not allow malicious hackers to get hold of them? I remember I was going to order from a website once and when I went into the order form to give my details then there were already details from somebody else in there, so that can’t have been very secure!

That is why now I tend to go to Amazon for anything I order online, particularly my pots and pans, they have everything you need from copper cookware sets through to the latest in multi-layered stainless steel sets. Amazon are not perfect, but they do seem to have an excellent system in place to help keep your details secure and away from those troublesome hackers, and on top of that they give great customer service and have great prices too. You can’t always rely on them to have the best price though, particularly if other site have special offers on to try and draw in customers, so a quick look at a comparison site like PriceGrabber.com or going to specific sites like Cooking.com is always advisable.
Once you have checked out some bigger sites then go back to Google and dig out some smaller sites which may be able to offer a good deal. Although when you are assessing the price then remember most of the time you can get free shipping with Amazon, so if someone is $20 cheaper than them but then tries to charge you that for shipping then really you aren’t going to be saving any money.
If after all your analysis you decide to go with a smaller website to buy from, then there are two checks you need to do before you proceed. The first thing I want to find is the actual address of the company, and then a phone number so I know I can phone them if I have any issues. Then see if they bother to use a secure page when you enter your details, a normal page starts with http:// and a secure one starts with https:// so be sure to check your browser for that. Of course a website can pass both those tests and still turn out to be fraudulent, but at least if a website doesn’t pass one of those checks then you can be pretty sure they aren’t somebody you want to trust with your order.
